The Dear Mad’m Day celebration in Happy Camp, California will take place in October this year! We will commemorate Stella Patterson’s real birthday on October 13.
Years later, people in Happy Camp, California and areas nearby in the Klamath River Valley still love the book, Dear Mad’m. It is one of the most popular books in town, and for good reason. It tells the story of a remarkable woman who decided, on her 80th birthday, to move to a remote mining claim about eight miles south of Happy Camp.
Events will start on Friday evening, October 12, and will continue through Sunday, October 14. We have a lot planned!
Friday evening – Reception, Book Signing for Dear Mad’m – Who Was She? by Peter Walthall Lismer and Elizabeth Kellam Lismer.
Saturday, 11am – Luncheon, Speakers, Award Presentations, Book Signings
Saturday evening – Bonfire, Songs, Camaraderie
Sunday – Pancake Breakfast, Presentation at the Dear Mad’m cabin site.
